On 27 March, as the whole world was celebrating the World Theatre Day, Lithuanian theatre creators were bestowed “Golden Cross of the Stage” Awards, given to the most prominent stage works and personalities of the year. The event, which was hosted by the Klaipėda Drama Theatre, was dominated by LNOBT’s production “Don Carlo”, which took home 3 awards out of 7 for which it was nominated, including principal Golden Cross of the evening for Günter Krämer as Best Director – this award was never before given to an opera director.
The winners are:
Best Director: Günter Krämer for G. Verdi’s “Don Carlo”
Best Set Designer: Herbert Schäfer for the set designs of G. Verdi’s “Don Carlo”
Opera Category: Eglė Šidlauskaitė for the role of Eboli in G. Verdi’s “Don Carlo”
Ballet Category: Kristina Gudžiūnaitė for the role of Kitri in “Don Quixote” and for the role of Juliet in “Romeo and Juliet”
