On the evening of 28 January, Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre held a celebratory ceremony, during which the general manager of the theatre Mr. Gintautas Kėvišas was congratulated on the occasion of becoming the Honorary Consul of Slovenia in Lithuania. Participants of the ceremony included HE Slovenian Ambassador to Lithuania Mr. Robert Krmelj, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania Mr. Neris Germanas, state secretary at the Ministry of Culture of Slovenia Ms. Damjana Pečnik, other important individuals as well as guests from Lithuania and abroad. Also on this day, the Consulate of Slovenia was opened in Vilnius.
Lithuania and Slovenia are bound by friendly relations. HE Slovenian Ambassador to Lithuania Mr. Robert Krmelj mentioned that Lithuania was the second country to accept the independency of Slovenia. Both countries became members of NATO and EU in the same year.
HE Slovenian Ambassador resides in Warsaw. The Slovenian Honorary Consulate was established in Vilnius to develop economic, cultural, scientific and educational relations, to promote the collaboration between the two countries.
