For one evening, LNOBT will become a nightclub and will be filled with darkness, as Manfredas, one of the most famous faces of Lithuanian electronic music, will stand behind the decks. Mysticism, screams, silent horror and a soundtrack uniquely created for this screening - the walls of the opera have never heard such a demonic tandem before.
Grave robbing, torture, possessed nuns, and a satanic Sabbath: Benjamin Christensen’s legendary silent film uses a series of dramatic vignettes to depict the history of witchcraft from the earliest days to the present (in this case, 1922). Christensen’s mix-and-match approach to genre anticipates gothic horror, documentary re-creation, and the essay film, making for an experience unlike anything else in the history of cinema.
The unique soundtrack for the screening will be composed and performed live by Manfredas, an internationally acclaimed DJ, producer and one of the most important representatives of Lithuanian electronic music. Manfredas is also a co-founder of Radio Vilnius radio and record label, and in 2023 he co-founded an experimental band Santaka with multi-instrumentalist Marijus Aleksa.
